  • Help Us Captures Some Memories

    Funded May 27, 2016

Thank you so much for the camera! It has improved our quality of life at AMT. Students enjoy taking pictures of each other at school activities and seeing pictures of themselves. Whenever we have a blood drive, we take pictures of our donors and give them copies as a "thank you." We have taken photos of prom, graduation, and school trips. Our SADD group (Students Against Destructive Decisions) did a special day called, "Grim Reaper Day," when the group taught the community about the dangers of drinking and driving. Every 52 minutes a gong would go off and the "Grim Reaper" would come to take another member of our school. Our school members would then "die." Their faces were painted, they wore "their stories," and did not speak the rest of the day (A photo is included).

This year, our blood drive committee has created a role of photographer/historian. She took pictures of donors, committee, and community members engaged in the excitement of the day. They even made a "photo booth" and took pictures of everyone who donated. It has really added to the culture of our day and the excitement behind our program. After each one they plan on how to make the next one even better and document the whole process.

    So, again, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diamond

Our students come from a school in an urban neighborhood. The school has grades 6- 12. Many students struggle in their day-to-day lives. Our school is a warm community that gives students opportunity to thrive and succeed. We try to offer activities to keep students well-rounded, including bands, academic help, sports, and more. However, due to many things, we do not always have the funds to help all these programs succeed. This year students helped organize and carry out our first blood drive. Many were involved in this amazing event. It was a great feeling and those who often don't have to give were able to because they gave themselves. The students are now attempting to do it again!
