Help Us Add Another Dimension To Geometry!
Funded Nov 23, 2016Thanks to the tremendous generosity of family, friends and anonymous donors who donated to my previous project to provide graphing calculators for my students at Khalil Gibran International Academy (KGIA), I had money left over to purchase a 3D printer for my Geometry students.
This printer will be used as a maker space for our upcoming unit on 3D geometric figures and shapes. We have already begun experimenting with the computer program to make 3D shapes (provided by the producer of the printer, XYZ Printing) and there is an air of excitement from the students who want to see this incredible machine in action.
On behalf of my colleagues and students at KGIA, thank you all again for your willingness to help those in need acquire the necessary tools to compete in an ever-changing landscape of technological advances.”

Graphing Calculators for High-Need Students
Funded May 17, 2016Hello everyone,
When the school year started, we had a ragtag collection of calculators to supplement our math classes. These machines ranged from small solar-powered basic calculators with an average area of 6 square inches to graphing calculators that were aging. We were concerned that, beyond the obvious shortcomings in teaching our math classes with antiquated machines, we would be short-handed when it came to administering our New York State-mandated Regents exams.
Thanks in large part to your generosity, we had enough calculators for each of our students to take the Regents Exam with a graphing calculator. Going forward, we will be able to conduct classes such as Geometry, Algebra II and Calculus with the necessary technology to explore our topics substantially.
In addition, our school has recently become a member of the International Baccalaureate program, where students will be enrolled in a rigorous math curriculum that relies heavily on statistics. Of course, graphing calculators will go a long way to help our students analyze their research and present it in graphic form.
So, on behalf of my colleagues and all of the students at Khalil Gibran International Academy, thank you again for your willingness to help those in need acquire the necessary tools to satiate their thirst for knowledge in this ever-changing world we live in.”
With gratitude,
Teacher Palatucci
