  • A Variety to Learn

    Funded Jul 17, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation. I am so excited to begin to use these materials in my classroom. I have already read two of the books. One was teaching the lesson about being kind and including everyone at recess. The second book taught students the importance of choosing their words wisely. It told them to taste their words, and the kinder the words the sweeter the taste. The students were really involved in the books, and just mentioning the books makes them think about their actions.

The whiteboards are going to be a huge help along with the math manipulatives once I start my small group teaching. My whiteboards were old and scratched. I am excited to see the math the students will be completing while using the manipulatives.

I am looking forward to organizing my library with the bins. Several of my books are crowded into bins and difficult to get and put away. These will make it easier for students to use the library.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. O'Brien

  • Back to School Supplies

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

Thank you for your generosity so I am able to give my students the supplies they need to be successful in school. Yesterday we cut and glued information on questioning to put into the students' interactive reading notebooks. It saved so much learning time because each student had a pair of scissors and glue sticks of their own in their desks. The folders are a huge help to keep kids organized. For example, they know that green is their math folder. They are no longer losing time on task searching for papers that they need. Also last year I think I gave hundreds of pencils by Christmas. The more I have the better. I am so grateful that they are starting out the year on such a positive note.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. O'Brien

  • White Boards

    Funded Aug 21, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to my project. Each child came in one morning to a white board, marker, and eraser on his/her desk. They were so excited to use them! During math after I taught my mini lesson I wanted to do a quick check to see who understood it. The kids wrote the problem and their solutions on the board. They held the boards up, and I could quickly see who understood it and who needed it to be retaught. Quickly I assessed and pulled a small group to reteach. These boards have helped me to quickly assess. The students keep asking to use them and are so excited. They bring them with them when they come to work in small groups. These boards are already making a huge impact on my class. Thank you so much for your generous support. My students and I really appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. O'Brien

I work in a high-poverty school in an urban district. In my classroom, I have special education students, English second language learners, and regular education students. The majority of my class is reading below grade level. Many come from homes that don't even have books in them, so their only chance to read is at school.
