  • iPad For Us!

    Funded Jan 23, 2022

Thank You for your very generous donations toward our class project. We have been able to use this for increased reward system and student motivation. In addition the kids are able to research and practice their typing skills. It has also been helpful in assessment for students who may need tech as an assistive tool to help them. This is helpful when they are being assessed for their typing skills. Some of the students benefit so much from this because we are able to see if on screen typing is effective for them. It gives us a tool to help see if they are candidates for such needed equipment.

The students are happy to have an IPAD to use and engage with in their speech sessions. There are so many fun apps for them to learn and be rewarded in truly exciting, up to date ways.

    Thank you for everything”

    With gratitude,

  • Seeing the World in Color Worksheets and With Visual Supports.

    Funded Dec 22, 2018

Thank You so much for your generous donations to contribute to my Lexmark color printer. I have been able to create color worksheets, projects for the students to complete and visual cues to help me facilitate more speech and language from them. The students are so much more motivated and excited when they see things in color. Thank you so very much, I feel truly blessed for the opportunity to have this printer in my classroom. Life as a speech therapist becomes so much easier and more effective when the right tools are available. Thank You from the bottom of my heart! The students also say thank You!!!!!!!”

  • iPad for Communication

    Funded Aug 3, 2017

Thank You so much for my classroom's new Ipad. It is helping serve as a model for the students who use their own IPADs as communication devices. Their navigation skills on their own devices has improved since I have been able to implement the classroom IPAD as a model. In addition, the children are engaging socially on apps such as making pizza and ice-cream together. Several students have been using Apps that allow for sensory stimulation in order to calm or excite them. One boy in particular loves moving fish along in a pond of water on an APP that he will work diligently for. We are currently working on a project called "Kindness Rocks Challenge" where we paint rocks with kind messages and hide them for others to find to brighten their day. We have been able to use the IPAD to take pictures and post them onto our school's social media site. We are thrilled with this new gift and we are looking forward to the world of opportunity that awaits us!!!!”

  • Sewing: A Forever Skill

    Funded Oct 10, 2016

    To our Amazing Donors,

I am thrilled to say that our students are working hard learning to sew (and so am I ). We have made a few projects that we were able to sell at our school store so far. We have been able to repair a teacher's bag and we have learned all about the vocabulary associated with our sewing. The student's were surprised to learn that the hole of the needle where we insert the thread is called the "eye of the needle". We learned how to create a running stitch, and a whipstitch so far. Soon, we will learn how to use the sewing machine. We are working on creating thank you letters for you. We are so thankful for your support. Our sewing club, that we named "Sewing Students, Sew amazing" has been an awesome experience this far. The girls and the boys are feeling successful, proud and excited. Thanks for your very generous donations!!!!!!”

  • Kite Event 2016

    Funded Apr 21, 2016

    Dear Ms. Williamson,

We are so happy that we flew kites at our 2016 Kite Event. Some of the kites were a pirate ship, elephant, lion, shark, star wars, octopus, and Sponge Bob shaped kite. We also flew pocket kites. They were small and easy to fly. They were also very cute. When we flew our kites it was really fun, and we felt happy, peaceful, nice, full of energy, proud and strong. We were able to have this experience because you were so nice to donate our new kites. We had such a beautiful day, with sunshine. We didn't have a lot of wind, but our kites still flew. They looked really pretty in the sky. We also wrote with sidewalk chalk and that was fun too. We hope you like our pictures we shared with you. We will remember how kind you were to us. We had fun opening all of our packages from Amazon too. It was so exciting to pick up the packages and see all of the surprises that were inside. We appreciate the time you took to read about our request, and for your very generous donation. It was a true act of kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McGlyn

My students who have autism and emotional and learning disabilities attend a special education program that is housed in a general education building. My students are enrolled in self contained classrooms or within an Inclusion program. The students in Inclusion are paired with a paraprofessional and participate within the general education classrooms. Some students participate in standardized testing, while others are considered Alternate Assessment and do not take the State exams due to disabilities. With that being said, despite their disabilities, I believe in their potential to learn, and become the most independent as they can. I am a speech Pathologist who works with them, and I would like to provide these students with materials that they need and will help them. These students are sweet, loving, kind and highly motivated. They are eager to come to school on a daily basis. I love them all very much.
