This Horseshoe Dry Erase Activity Table will be an asset to the small groups of students I service. In addition to the use of flexible seating at the table, students will be able to interact with our lessons by using the whiteboard top as a tool. Students with disabilities benefit from visual representation during instruction. The tabletop will be used to draw pictures during math activities, take notes during reading activities, and write words during phonics and spelling activities. We also use manipulatives in all curricular areas so students can interactively take notes and manipulate objects in real time. With this horseshoe shaped table, the teacher sits in the middle and the student group sits along the outside. Each student remains close to the teacher. It allows the teacher full access to interact with individual students. The teacher can watch learning and use the the dry erase tabletop to give immediate feedback, and provide additional visual examples to individual students. Students’ focus is increased because of the close proximity of the teacher.
