  • Sit and Explore

    Funded Jun 19, 2023

Thank you so much for funding this project for my students and I. It has given us space to enjoy reading with friends. This reading bench is the perfect match for our classroom and just the right size for us.

When we first opened the bench, We were all super excited, and we were beyond excited for a place to sit without sitting only on the floor. They were also overjoyed to see how easily it fit into our classroom and how convenient it was have.

This project has come at such a perfect time for us to find a place to read.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hanlon

  • Exploring Esperanza and Kim Hà's Journeys

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Your donations helped build my student library and create a positive atmosphere for literary studies in the classroom. My class likes to be able to read and discuss books together, and your donations made that possible.

Being able to use the two books we received in the classroom, gave us the ability to discuss and build knowledge of life beyond America through the eyes of children my students' ages. It gave my students the ability to make connections and build understanding about life in other countries.

Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to enjoy reading a text together as a class, and it build a camaraderie amongst ourselves that not only made the experience safe, but also enjoyable.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hanlon

  • Whole Class Reads Together

    Funded Mar 20, 2019

Thank you so much for the books. My class thrives on reading, and when I have books to share with an entire class, we are able to dig deep and have discussions about what we are reading. Through whole group reading, students learn how to identify meaning, find connections, and are able to hear take aways from other students as we read. They are also able to make connections through discussions with other students and see how reading and understanding connect to all of us.

In my classroom, reading is a highly rewarding experience. My students are constantly looking for good books to read, and when I introduce my non-readers to fun and exhilarating books, they find themselves looking for their own books by that author.

My students loved reading our new books because it gave them a chance to read something in class that was not only enjoyable, but had meaning. They were able to make connections to other parts of our curriculum and see how reading can be fun.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hanlon

  • Resting Art Work Needs to Dry

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I can't tell you how amazing it is to know that people cared enough about my classroom to donate enough money to actually fund my project. My students and I are able to create amazing projects for art without worrying about them sticking together or falling off of their desks and get stepped on. The drying racks for our art work has created so much less clutter in our classroom and given my students the tools to be successful artists.

When my students first saw the drying racks that were donated to our classroom they were blown away and so excited to use them. Being able to place their hard work onto the racks and know they won't be ruined made such a difference and gave them more incentive to finish up projects they have started.

Now that we have these drying racks in our classroom, we plan to create more artwork through different types of media, including watercolor, acrylic paints and oil pastels.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hanlon

My students are fifth graders who yearn to learn. They are bright and continually researching information for not only class projects, but for pure enjoyment. They like to stay connected and love to read books on real life information that can give them a wealth of knowledge. Our school is full of children who continually look for ways to extend their learning and who love to experience new situations and learn about real life.
