I teach second through fifth grade students. My students attend school in an urban school district in a high poverty area. All of my students receive free lunch, as well as a majority of the school. My students require special education services for a majority of the school day, so they are in a self contained classroom for students with cognitive disabilities. They love to learn, but they also know they are different learners than the other students. They want to fit in, and do everything their regular education peers do. Our life skills lessons blend academic, daily living skills, and personal/social skills.
