Adaptive Equipment for Gross Motor Joint Action Routine

Funded Apr 2, 2016

My students were excited to receive the materials. When the boxes came, students helped to unpack them. We talked about the materials and how we would be using them. We created a designated place in the classroom to keep the materials so that we know where to put them when we are finished.

The body sock has helped to make students more aware of where their bodies are in space. It helps students slow their pace so that they can focus on walking properly. The proprioceptive input helps with sensory issues. One of the students asks to wear it every day!

Students enjoy using the balance beam. It gives the students incentive to line up (which is a skill we work on) because they want to go. Overall balance of most students has already improved.

Thank you again for supporting our project!”

With gratitude,

Mr. Dean
