Small Group Techies

Funded Dec 22, 2018

When my 3rd graders and myself received the new blue Prestige android tablets we all cheered. We were so excited. Students are able to do research. They researched different endangered animals. They came together and shared their findings. Later they used that information to write a 6 paragraph essay. During Universal Access Time they are in small groups working on reading, phonics, typing, and coding. They are able to have books read to them which helps them with pronunciation, tone, and expression. Students are able to read books and take Accelerated Reader comprehension test. Early finishers of math are able to grab a tablet and work on any type of math. Fractions and multiplication games are very popular.

The most exciting thing about getting these new tablets is the students can take the them to their seats and work from there. They can work alone or with others. When there is free time I often see friends grabbing the tablets and playing some type of educational game with one another. There's always a line just to use these 4 new tablets.

There are two little girls that are very competitive. They love to read books and take Accelerated Reader test. These test give points and 50 points gets you a trip to the beach at the end of .year. Whoever gets the most points get a trophy. With the addition of these four new tablets it's made it easier for these two girls to read more and test more. Who will win? We"ll find out at the end of the year.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Aldredge
