Ms. Speck's Shark Tank needs Flexible Seating for Engaged Learning!
Funded Sep 25, 2019I would first like to thank you all so much for your tremendous generosity. The flexible seating choices have made a huge impact to my students engagement and learning abilities. The flexible seating project could not have been completed without all of you, so my students and I thank you.
My students, known as "Shark Tank", were smiling from ear to ear when the packages arrived and when the boxes were opened. The students were so thankful and appreciative and could not wait to try them all out. They worked so well collaboratively in class and were so much more engaged in their learning, it was outstanding. All of my students took turns and rotated all of the flexible seating choices, so that each student had an opportunity using each one, which was also an incredible feeling.
My students use the flexible seating opportunities throughout the entire day. The students use them mostly when they come to the carpet for instruction. It has allowed the students to leave their desks and collaborate with one another. The students not only use them for daily instruction, but during lunch bunch, indoor recess, and group work. I am over the moon with how amazing the flexible seating has impacted my students' learning and my classroom community.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for this wonderful opportunity to allow my students to have a different seating choice each week and to be more engaged in their learning. My students and I are incredibly thankful and blessed to have these flexible seating choices, and I am looking forward to another wonderful school year!”

Funded Dec 14, 2018I just want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read my story and to donate to my students. The reaction of my students was priceless; they could not believe their resources and books were for them! As soon as the books were opened, the students grabbed a book and began reading right away, and it was incredible to watch! I have also used some of the books for book club, which was super engaging for my students! Their faces were lit up, and I know they are truly thankful and blessed to have been given these new books! I cannot thank everyone enough for thinking of my students, and for donating to such a great cause! I am so excited to continue to expand the knowledge and excitement of reading, and keep my students reading! My students now enjoy reading and often ask me to read their new books out of their book bins! It has been a wonderful experience for them, and I know their lives were changed by this selfless act. On behalf of my students and myself, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, and I am so grateful for all the gracious and generous donations! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Funded Aug 8, 2017Thank you very much to all of you for your incredible and generous donations. My students' faces lit up with joy when all the boxes came and lit up even more when they found out what was inside. My students could not believe that all the materials I received was for them. In my flexible seating project, my students are using the stools and are able to focus on their school work and in return, earned better grades on their tests. My students have also enjoyed the various math-related board games during math rotations and again, have earned better grades by practicing the related skills during math rotations. Some other items that my students have benefited from are the main idea, inference, context clues, and cause and effect task cards. During guided reading, my students continue to ask me to use the task cards on a daily basis because they enjoy them so much. To see my students become more successful on quizzes and tests, and to want to learn and feel motivated really puts a smile on my face. To all the donors, you made that happen. You all put smiles on my students' faces and have helped them achieve greatness and without all of these materials, it wouldn't have happened. To each and every one of my donors, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all have helped my students grow and learn more every day and I couldn't have done it without you. I am looking forward to my next project; I will be trying to get more flexible seating as well as more hands-on manipulatives. Again, thank you all for making a difference in my students' lives; we are all truly thankful and blessed to have such wonderful people to donate to such a great cause. Thank you.”

Brand New Teacher- Need Some Help!
Funded Apr 19, 2016I would like to thank each and every donor that made my project possible. My students are loving the new materials that were given to them. We complete interactive notebooks on a daily basis and with glue sticks always running out, the Elmer's glue is really coming in handy! The other resource that my students and I are very appreciative of are the clipboards and class jobs! My students LOVE the class jobs! Each Monday they ask me when I am going to switch their job, so that they can do something else. It also really helps me out because every single one of my students has a job for the week, with multiple students doing one job, so that the day runs smoothly. The clipboards allow my students to go around my classroom and complete various activities.
I am very thankful for all of the resources that I received for my students to make my classroom a better place. The resources have been so useful and are used almost every single day. My students were so excited and thrilled when the items arrived. They all had big grins on their faces and then proceeded to clap and thank me for everything. I told my students that they will be thanking the selfless donors from donorschoose for everything that we received. My students then asked me if we are allowed to ask for anything else and I explained to them how everything worked; they were very curious and enthused about this whole thing. My students and I are very thankful and appreciative for everything and I have been having a fantastic year!
The next thing that I am thinking about doing is asking for flexible seating and books. I was not given any books for my classroom library and of course being in the area I am in, many of my students do not have books at home, which makes it hard to be reading every single night. I really want my next project to focus on reading both in the classroom and at home. Also, going along with that, my students have a goal each month to read two chapter books on their level and at the end of the school year, they earn a field trip in a limo. Many of my students have been borrowing my books to accomplish this goal, but I am really short-handed with books since I bought my own books for my library out of pocket. Flexible seating is the also project I want to focus on since I have a lot of students that cannot sit still and focus on the task at hand. I feel as though both of those items will have a huge impact on my students in the future. I am hoping to start that project soon and hopefully I can have that project fully funded as well!
To all of my donors, near and far, I want to thank all of you individually and wholeheartedly for your selfless actions. By donating to my project, not only did you put a smile on my face, but you put a smile on all of my students' faces as well. They have really benefited from everything that they received and they are looking forward to the rest of the school year! Thank you for all that you do and for making my first school year a great and successful one!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Speck
