"Ms. K, I'm One of Eight Kids In MyHouse."
Funded Jul 20, 2016Thank you for all the amazing clothes we received! With your help we were able to each get a sweatshirt and sweatpants for everyday wear and gym. The clothes are so nice. Not only are we prepared for gym but, we can wear our brand new clothes around school. With such a large collection, we can still be unique and ourselves. We are so happy that we got to choose our own clothes! It was almost like going shopping in a store. The clothes make us feel great and we are so happy that you thought of us and wanted to help us! Your donation showed us that we all need to work together and help one another. Thank you for your kindness.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ashoka & Think It Up Supporters and one other donor.Creating Stained Glass Murals Through Math!
Funded Jun 21, 2016Thank you so much for the resources you have donated! My students were so excited to be supplied with books, graph paper, and pencils just to start the year off. It made coming back to school and entering the classroom all the more exciting. My students are looking forward to using the new supplies to create our stained glass art project! The markers and crayons will help to make beautiful works of art. Each student will have their own set of crayons and I can already tell I have so many artists just sitting and waiting to demonstrate their talent!
My students were so pleased to see all the supplies displayed through out the classroom. They could not believe the amount of supplies we received and I had to reiterate multiple times that the supplies was all for them! I laid out all the supplies so when they entered the classroom for the first time they could see all the supplies! The notebooks, markers, crayons, pencils, sharpeners and graph paper are all out in the classroom at all times for students to take any time they need something. Their shocked faces were great to see and started the new year off on a great positive (which in math is known as an upward line)!!!!
We are studying linear functions. For the project, the students will graph lines on graph paper from the given linear functions. When the students have completed graphing all the lines, they will color in the graph paper with the markers and crayons. They are able to choose any designs or colors they choose! The project will be displayed in the windows and gives the classroom life! While also showing the students' creative side, this project also gives them pride and ownership of the classroom.
Thank you for taking your time and generosity to think about my students. Your impact far exceeds one project and will touch many students.”

"Ms. K, I wish we had a computer", 8th grade student
Funded May 18, 2016Thank you so much for supporting our class! Ms. Kyle waited until we were all in the room to put the computer on and we all cheered when we heard the sound and saw the screen come on! She allowed each of us to rotate on the computer and we all got 10 minutes to play our favorite cool math game. Cool math game is our favorite website to go on and play fun games that challenge our math skills.
In our math room, we never had a computer desktop or printer. Any time we needed to print something out we needed to go to the computer lab and sometimes the printer did not work. Ms. Kyle showed us how to work the printer as we created our thank you cards! We already started researching different strategies on how to multiply binomials by watching videos on the FOIL method. We were able to print things out to decorate our bulletin board too. We also enjoy watching videos from Brainpop and playing the activities and games. In school, technology is great for looking up information especially videos that demonstrate the math we are learning in different ways. Getting a visual and sometimes a song helps us focus and learn. Thank you again for supporting our learning!”

Ms. Kyle
