My students are energetic, curious, and imaginative. Like many first graders, their little bodies are constantly on the move and often distract the students near them. While my students are working independently, I often see them teetering on two legs of their chair, kneeling on the floor or on their chair, standing at their desk, scooting around on their chairs, and sitting on their desks. I have a few students who go so far as to wander the room instead of working. These students are all excellent thinkers, but many struggle to complete their work because their need for movement is so great.
