Funded Sep 27, 2024I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of classroom books on the topic of World Religions and the novel, The Giver. Additionally, thank you for the kindle tablet that we use to help translate certain phrases into Arabic and Spanish. Your support has made a significant impact on our students and their educational journey.
The addition of these texts has introduced a variety of essential skills and lessons to our classroom. Through the exploration of World Religions, students are not only gaining knowledge about diverse cultures but also developing critical thinking skills as they analyze different belief systems and their historical contexts. This fosters empathy and respect for others, which is vital in our increasingly global society. The Giver, on the other hand, has sparked discussions about themes such as individuality, freedom, and the importance of memories—encouraging our students to think deeply about their own lives and choices.
Reading in our classroom is a vibrant and engaging experience. Students participate in group discussions and collaborate on projects that allow them to express their understanding creatively - for example students made an ABC book for World Religions as well as did an in-depth study on the 8 elements of religion present in a particular faith. Students were able to use the resource books given to our classroom to help complete this task.
I have noticed particular students who are especially enjoying the new books. A couple of students who often struggles with reading comprehension and/or the few students that do not speak the English language as their primary language, have found a newfound interest in reading because of The Giver. The relatable characters and thought-provoking plot have ignited a passion for reading in them. Additionally, students have been excitedly sharing insights about World Religions during our discussions, showing a remarkable depth of understanding for seniors ready to embark on their next steps outside public education.
Once again, thank you for your generous contribution to our classroom. Your support is fostering a love for reading and learning among our students, and we are truly grateful for your commitment to their education.”

Funded Aug 18, 2024I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions to our class. Your donations have allowed us to purchase games, coloring books, and various activities that have greatly enriched our advisory time. The resources you provided not only foster creativity and engagement among the students but also create a positive and inclusive environment where they can unwind and connect with one another.
The first time the students saw the materials, their reactions were priceless—there were cheers and shouts of excitement as they discovered the colorful books and engaging games they could use together since the school has gone to a no cell phone policy. It truly sparked a wave of enthusiasm in the classroom!
Looking ahead, we plan to integrate these resources into our current project on community building. Your support has opened up these opportunities for our students, and I cannot thank you enough for making such a positive impact on their educational experience.”

Funded Aug 28, 2023Thank you so very much for your kind donations. Students are now given an updated sense of the world with present events that include the pandemic and aftermath that affect the geography of the world.
Being in a Human Geography class, students need to be able to see the concepts and topics in the real world and be able to apply their new found knowledge within real world situations. Prior to these new books, students were having to use outdated examples and were struggling to connect with events the textbooks would discuss that were 5-7 years ago.
Your donation has allowed us to have much deeper conversations about the world around them. I am hopeful that the students' new found knowledge will set a path of engaged citizens who want to do more good to the world and for the world.”
