Fuel and Fun to Help Us Learn
Funded Sep 22, 2017Thank you so much for your kind donation! I was able to fund this project faster than I ever have thanks to your help. I can't tell you how much it warms my heart to know that people care about helping these girls as much as I do. These materials will take so much stress off of me and the girls throughout the year. I can't thank you enough for your support.”

Help Make My Students Lifetime Readers
Funded Aug 14, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation. Since the beginning of the year, my students have shown tremendous growth. All of them can identify the parts of a book, can read the book with the correct orientation, and can recognize familiar books covers. Listening to them retell some of the stories that were purchased through this donation is always so exciting. I love sharing the world of Curious George and Winnie the Pooh with them. They get so excited whenever we read books from donors. I know they love books now, and my only hope is that in part because of this donation, they will keep that love for the rest of their lives.”

Sensory Materials
Funded Mar 21, 2016We cannot thank you enough for your incredibly generous donations. Everyone who donated had their donations matched by Best School Day Ever which quickly brought us to our funding goal. The project had a little twist though. The sensory cushions we initially wanted were out of stock, so we went with a different, and cheaper option with left us with extra money to buy many more sensory materials. With the money we saved, we bought kinetic sand, linking cubes, wiki sticks, expo markers, and engineering center activities.
Every time we got another box, the girls beamed with excitement. It was like Christmas for a week in room 123. When we got the box of kinetic sand, which the girls haven't had all year, they all screamed in unison. They were overjoyed the first time I put out the linking cubes and they realized all the amazing things they could create. When they saw the wiki sticks and realized they could become their very own jewelry makers, they were chomping at the bit to get their hands on the materials.
The big buy for this project was of course the sensory cushions. We call them wiggle seats. We spent an afternoon learning the right way to use the wiggle seats, playing games with them, and becoming familiar with their purpose. Most of my students have a firm grasp on their self control and don't have problems sitting still through lessons. But for those who do, these seats have been an immense help. For the girls who can't sit still for more than 5 seconds, they now have an outlet and can channel their energy into the ever shifting seat. They also have a sense of responsibility, taking care of the seat and making sure it's always in the right place. For the rest of my friends, it means they have fewer distractions when getting through lessons. Us as teachers have noticed a difference, parents have noticed a difference, and proud students have noticed a difference.
This amazing gift has brought so much joy to our class and will continue to bring joy to students in the years to come. Thank you again for you overwhelming support.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Telson
