The students in the middle school are oftentimes unprepared for class, and as a result this often delays coming to class; or while they are in class it is a factor that instigates disruption in the class. As a way to offset these negative and task avoiding behaviors, and to help students to come with the growth mindset that success is possible, we have implemented a positive reinforcement program banking system called P.A.T.S. (Polite/Respectful, Always Prepared/Responsible,Taking Ownership, Staying Safe) Promissory. Using the P.A.T.S. Promissory banking system allows students to earn supplies in order to be prepared for class, encourage economic literacy, and build self management skills.
During the second semester, it is essential that students must be able to refresh their learning supplies in order for them to continue towards reaching academic success.
Students need notebooks for journal writing and science, as well as pencils, colored pencils and highlighters to help them prepare for the state testing that comes around during the second semester. Students can use dry erase markers for quick answers, during class sessions, and pencil pouches to hold and keep up with their supplies.
Because the students will be able to earn bucks by coming to class on time, completing homework, and showing pride in their classroom behavior, this store will give them a place to spend their earnings.
Using the P.A.T.S. Promissory banking system, every child has a chance to be successful with both positive reinforcement and learning about the infrastructure of economics.
