Creating Lifelong Readers
Funded May 14, 2020Please accept my sincere thanks for funding my Donors Choose project, Creating Lifelong Readers. These highly engaging books appeal to both beginning readers as well as students reading at a higher levels.
Our class is learning how good readers self-select books that are just right for them: they are interested in reading them, they can read most of the words, and they understand what they are reading. The variety of characters and reading levels in this set of books provides many opportunities for self-selected reading.
These highly engaging books appeal to even the most reluctant readers and are helping to open up the world of reading to them. Thank you so much for helping them to discover the joys of reading!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DiCenzo

Funded Nov 22, 2019Thank you so very much for funding our project Engaging and Self-Directed Math Skills Practice. Thanks to your generous donation our class is now enjoying a classroom set of VersaTiles for math. We are using the VersaTiles to practice previously learned skills in an exciting, engaging and self-directed manner. VersaTiles combine the challenge of a puzzle with standards-aligned practice, helping students develop fluency of key math concepts and skills.
Students answer engaging math questions by placing numbered tiles into an answer case. Then they can instantly check their answers by flipping over the case to see if the pattern on the back of the case matches the one on their current activity page. The VersaTiles activity books focus on: number and operations: counting and place value; addition and subtraction: properties and situations; addition and subtraction: strategies and equations; addition and subtraction; measurement and data: length, time and analysis; and geometry: shapes and attributes.
All of the students in my class are enjoying the VersaTiles during small group and independent time. I am truly grateful to you for your support and send you my most sincere thanks!”
