My students are 6th graders who live in a high poverty area. They typically do not have the opportunity for enriching learning experiences outside of school and many struggle academically and socially. They look forward daily to a warm, loving classroom setting where learning happens in a fun and engaging way. Technology and hands-on learning are always inviting to them and these are the types of lessons they remember most. Developing effective interpersonal communication skills in the students is one of our goals. Project-based cooperative learning is a great approach to this and putting together the materials necessary is always a challenge.
