Protecting Our Future: Barracuda Lock for Classroom Door
Funded Mar 3, 2018From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you for the Barracuda Door Lock device. Our school, in light of recent school lock down shootings, decided that additional measures should be taken to help further ensure the safety of our school. Our school researched this type of lock device and decided that it would be an awesome way to help make our students more safe from harm. Our school had already placed specific plans on how to handle a lock down situation at our school. The additional locks would help keep our students safe from harm.
We live in a rural community with just under three hundred students attending our school. Our school is located in a high poverty community. We could not afford in our school budget for all of our classrooms to be able to purchase this system. As a school, we decided to reach out through this program. We can not thank you all enough for your generosity and concern for the safety of our students.
With the help of you and your contribution, we were able to purchase these locking devices for each classroom at our school. Thank you so much! Our students are able to operate these devices by themselves and are trained at how to handle lock down drills.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Buck
Stem Projects-Connecting Learning and Fun!
Funded Mar 29, 2016My students are able to use the privacy shields on a regular basis in class. Students use the privacy shields when completing assessments, when working on a different activity in class than other students, or when the student feels that they need to concentrate better on an assignment. Building bricks are used for a variety of math activities such as finding perimeter and area and determining place value. We also use the building blocks to work on a variety of STEM activities in class.
Students were so excited to open the package to see their new materials for the classroom. I had made it known prior to receiving the package that some people thought that our class deserved some great materials for all of their hard work. I had let them know that someone had valued their education and learning and wanted them to be able to learn more and become more successful in school. It took caring people to make this happen. Students were so excited to know that they were cared for so greatly!
Our fourth grade students are learning about place value right now, so the students are using the privacy shields for a variety of activities in class in regards to their self-paced learning. The students are also able to use building bricks to create large numbers. Students will also use the building bricks later in the year to complete some projects in relation to fractions and perimeter and area. Students are so excited to be able to use hands-on manipulatives in the classroom! We couldn't have the successes we do, if it weren't for generous individuals like you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Buck
