Inspiring Reading In HS ELA: We Need Your Help

I'm so overjoyed by the impact your donation has had in my classroom. Every day in all of my classes, we read independently in an effort to foster students' enjoyment in reading, expand their range of reading materials and knowledge, and further their reading comprehension skills.

By having the funds to purchase graphic novels and books related to some of my students' interests, I'm better able to match students to books that will kickstart their interest in reading. This is often the most difficult part of implementing independent reading time, so I'm eternally grateful for the impact these books hold in our curriculum, our classroom, and these students' lives.

We've also enjoyed slowing down our curriculum to have fun and include "fun" days where we can play board games. By having board games related to our curriculum - literary devices, word choice, and critical thinking skills - I'm better able to justify the use of these board games and students are able to have a blast while learning.
