These magnetic tiles will be used to enrich our learning in all subject areas. When we are learning about geometric shapes in our geometry unit, we can actually feel the shapes, see the shapes, count the sides, make 3 dimensional figures, and actually experience how these shapes can be identified in real life. Virtual Learning is enhanced by using their surroundings at their home to identify the angles, shapes, and curves, observed in the tiles in real life. By using these tiles, cities in Social Studies or the setting of a story (architectural landmarks) in Reading, we can actually build what we are visualizing. We can construct atoms and cells in Science. The possibilities of using these magnetic tiles to enrich and extend our learning are endless! The sets of fraction pieces will help us understand the concepts of using fractions and how it can be related to real life. Fractions are difficult for 4th graders and they will help us visualize the concepts that fractions represent. We can also use the magnetic tiles and interact lessons with the fraction pieces to visualize and construct situations of parts to a whole.
