Using these requested phonics materials and professional literature to teach the science of reading, will give my intervention students the tools they need to make sense of words and become proficient readers and writers. Specifically, The Hooked on Phonics Complete Kit, Phonics 1,128 Phonics Sentence Flash Cards, Really Good Stuff EZread Sound Box Kit, The Next Step Forward in Word Study and Phonics, Learning Resources Fox In The Box Position Word Activity Set, Key Education Big Box of Word Chunks—Puzzle Game, LEARNING ADVANTAGE-6002 Build-A-Sentence, ThinkFun Zingo Word Builder Early Reading Game, Key Education Sentence Building for Kids, 13 English Phonics Poster Language Arts Charts, Gamenote Sight Words Swat Game, Week-by-Week Phonics Packets, Junior Learning JL452 Part of Speech Flips, and Carson Dellosa Phonics for Kindergarten Workbook, all of these materials work on the key skills of phonics. The professional texts requested: Equipped for Reading Success, Essentials of Assessing, Preventing, and Overcoming Reading Difficulties (Essentials of Psychological Assessment), and Essentials of Evidence-Based Academic Interventions, are all critical components to teach the science of reading. The science of reading encompasses years of scientific knowledge and research that demonstrates the effectiveness of intensive phonemic awareness training, intensive phonic decoding training, and opportunities for repeated practice with reading controlled text. Intervention in these skills leads to efficient decoding skills and the highest degree of success, over the shortest amount of time. These materials will help my third grade students master the Nevada Reading Foundational Standard, R.F.3.3- Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. These materials will not only be used in my third grade intervention groups, but will also be available to the other strategists to use with their intervention groups in kindergarten, first, second, fourth, and fifth grade.
