Funded Mar 29, 2017This project gave my students the opportunity to explore forces through magnetic fields, slopes, gears, friction etc. Having the opportunity to explore after reading text gave my students a better understanding of how things can move fast and slow, how to repel an object, the speed is affected by friction and how friction can slow motion. THe building of the roller coaster allowed them to change incline planes and show how higher inclines can cause an object to travel faster and lower inclines slow motion down. The exploration box of what is magnetic and what is not gave them the opportunity to explore why things are magnetic and draw conclusions that not metal objects are not attracted to magnets. They so much enjoyed to have this opportunity. Thank you for helping their understanding build to a much deeper level.”
