Diary of a Wimpy Kid has become a lunch companion for several students however, with the recent news reports of cops shootings I think that children hear but they really do not know what happens when a police officer is involved with a shooting. The story Hush by Jacqueline Woodson discusses this type of event and I think young people can benefit from the text and followup conversation. The Giver is a classic exploration of what life could be like if ..... I want to facilitate conversations about the alternatives of how we live to help young people problem solve for our future.
