Fostering Organizational Accountability!

Funded Oct 2, 2017

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to you for funding our project. I initially got the idea to create an organizational binder when my students could not keep anything together and I was tired of receiving crumpled up assignments! I wanted something that would allow each student to become more responsible for their own belongings and their own learning. Each student received a binder and within each binder is a copy of the district academic calendar, monthly lunch menu, pockets for parent teacher communication and high frequency word lists. The students also keep their weekly homework and spelling lists in the binder.

When I first introduced the students to the BEE (Bring Everything Everyday) Binder System, the kids ooohed and aaahed. I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure how it was going to go over with the students or the parents. I also enclosed a contract between myself, the student and the parent. They were required to agree to keep the binder clean and free of damage.

We have been using the BEE Binders for about a month now. The increase in responsibility I have seen from my scholars is amazing. Not only are they turning in their homework each week, but I have seen an increase in parental involvement in the class because they check what I send home in the binder every day. The students are also checking one anothers binders to make sure they are still clean and damage free!

Thank you so much for helping us with this project. The BEE Binder is something I am going to implement in each of my classes going forward.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Dews
