Care Closet Goodies
Funded Aug 23, 2024I have immense gratitude toward your generosity in providing items for my Care Closet. It may not seem like much but the items that were purchased help students to feel connected and safe at school. Students stop by my classroom asking for a quick snack on their way to their next class. That boost in energy helps them to be successful.
Having the feminine projects and hygiene items accessible to students helps to take the shame away from needed the products. Students feel safe and supported when they know there are places they can go to access basic essentials helps to take away some of the stressors associated with school.
Your generosity has made an impact on students at Perry High School. I thank you for making sure that my students have what they need to not only be successful within the school. Having their basic needs met helps them to tackle the stressors of the school day with a little more ease.”

Reading Is Fundamental
Funded Mar 18, 2024With your help, I was able to create meaningful connections to reading and fundamental phonetic skills. The items that were purchased with your generous donations provided students with hands on ways to build and read words. Once students were able to see the connection between understanding word building and then putting those skills into action with reading, it sparked a joy within them.
Often when students are learning new skills being able to apply those skills in a hands on way helps to solidify the skill and provides a concrete way for them to apply to skills that a fundamental to reading.

School Supply Essentials
Funded Aug 16, 2023Thank you for your contributions to my classroom. Being that we have moved schools, gathering essential school supplies was necessary for my students to be successful. Markers, crayons, colored pencils and bins to hold these materials in are essential for students to feel as if they are back in their old school and give their desk an area to access the tools needed to be successful. We use the markers for highlighting text.
The students love having crayons for art projects that showcase who they are and their skin tones. It makes them feel valued and accepted knowing they have colors that represent them.
We will begin reading our class set of Stamped. I think that it is very valuable for our young students of color to learn about the injustices that this world faces, and to be empowered to stand up and fight for what is right.”

Funded Dec 1, 2021Thank you for the generous donations in helping supply my kids with tools they can use to help regulate their emotions. Since getting the items, my students have been able to use the calming space as a way to decompress while still being able to stay in the classroom learning. Having students stay within the learning space validates their feelings and acknowledges that they are still a valued member within our learning community. Funded Oct 22, 2020Thank you for providing my classroom with books that showcase a variety of characters that look like the students I teach.
Literacy within the classroom is so important. There are so many skills and strategies that are taught throughout the year. One way students learn these skills and strategies is by making connections, it's so hard to make connections when the characters don't look like you. With these books my students are able to connect on a personal level to the characters. Although school looks different this year we are still engaged in reading and learning! Funded Dec 16, 2019Thank you all for your support. With my flexible seating arrangements my students have been able to increase their stamina while working. They are able to find seating that meets their needs as they work. Flexible seating has allowed for the student to become the leader of their learning. It amazes me how my students know exactly what seating will help them stay focused. Students now have the opportunity come and work in small groups at the carpet, use the balance chairs to help with hyperactivity, and the stools are just another means to be comfortable. In a changing world of education flexible seating is just another tool to help students get the best out of their learning. Thank you for your generous donation. I am appreciative of each and every one of you!”

Funded Nov 2, 2017Since receiving the beanbags for the classroom they have made a tremendous impact on my students. Some of the beanbags are used in the calming room to help students who are having a difficult time. They are able to punch, kick, and even throw the bag to help get their emotions out. The other beanbags have been used to help build reading stamina in the classroom. Daily the students are given time to read to themselves. The students each have a beanbag and are able to take them to the different areas of the room and read. The stamina has increased since the beanbags. Students are asking when will it be time to read?
I truly believe that we are shaping the minds of students daily and helping them to become the future. Learning has to be done in a more creative way. By building reading stamina and providing a safe space for my students to let out their frustrations you as donors are helping to change the mindset of school and learning. My students and I thank you for your generosity.”

The "Active" Learner
Funded Apr 17, 2017I am so thankful your contribution in providing the funds to provide my students with flexible seating. The first day they walked into the classroom their faces showed pure excitement and joy. MY students are able to work and release extra energy at the same time.
