My students love technology, but given the opportunity, they would love to move more and have more interactive lessons throughout the day. So why not incorporate both at the same time? Currently, my school has limited resources for technology. I have only one classroom computer, which often my kids must crowd around. The teachers at my school share resources, and although we love to share, it is not always easy to plan a fun, interactive lesson when you may not have the resources needed at the time you want them.
I would love for my students to have access to online, interactive lessons that are geared to their unique learning styles, and a projector will do just that. Our math coach came in to do a lesson from LearnZillion, that she projected up on the board, and I just stepped back and observed how much more engaged the students were. They were jumping around, working together as a class, not even realizing how much they were learning. After that, my students kept asking for everything to be projected, from stories, to our calendar, and even our lunch count!
I also have students with special needs who often leave the room for a scheduled movement break that they do in another room with a projector. I would like nothing more than for those students to remain in the classroom and share the fun of their movement break with their peers! The website GoNoodle.com, has a tremendous amount of fun, interactive videos that get kids up and moving! Rainy day? No problem when you have a projector and fun movement activities! The possibilities for the projector are endless!
