Students have such creative, amazing imaginations. Why not use it to their benefit? Students learn about various animals (elephants, giraffe, etc.) and their function of their body parts (ex: elephant trunk to drink water, pick up things). Now, I want the students to use what they learned and apply it. Students will be using the 3D printer with filament to have their own unique animal come to life! Students will create their own animal, name it, and place it in a habitat. Students will explain why they chose that various body part(s) for that habitat. Students have a sense of ownership because it something they created all by themselves, and they can now hold it!
