  • Bus for Camp!

    Funded Sep 10, 2018

Thank you so much for helping to start the year off to a great start. My students LOVE to go to the independent reading station, partially because they love to sit on the comfortable cushions. Additionally, it was wonderful to start the year fully stocked with post-its, glue, scissors, paper, and post board. Lastly, I like to allow students flexible seating to complete work, so the clipboards are particularly helpful in giving kids the option to sit on the floor, the windowsill, or anywhere else that they choose!”

    Ms. Sullivan

  • Creating a Professional Looking Soccer Team

    Funded Mar 15, 2018

We finally look like a professional team! With the proper gear, my students are able to shoot and pass more accurately, play on muddy fields without slipping, and try out the equipment that they will need as they continue their soccer careers. We look like a team now with our new cleats and Adidas shorts. Our goalies our cleaning up with their amazing new gloves.

Thank you so much for your generous contributions. These kids truly deserve the best and you have made it possible for them to have the full soccer experience.”

  • Books, Books, Books!

    Funded Mar 23, 2018

My students were so excited to sift through the box of new books. There is nothing like seeing kids' faces light up at the sight of books! Students are already reading many of the new book independently. They will use these as options for their quarterly independent reading projects. Additionally, the sets of four books will be used as option for group literature circle projects, which we will begin at the end of April. It will be great for my students to have some excellent new options to choose from!”

  • Classroom Essentials!

    Funded Mar 3, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing to my Classroom Essentials project. This may not have been the flashiest project, but it is just as important. We needs items like Clorox wipes to keep our classroom clean, and tissues to help with the endless running noses of winter and spring. Additionally, we use post-it's for many activities in class, including recording our thinking while reading. Kids think a lot, and we go through them quickly! Lastly, we use poster board for various projects throughout the year.”

  • Reading and Technology

    Funded Aug 29, 2017

My students and I can't thank you enough for funding this project. The materials arrived just before the school year started, and it was so wonderful for my new sixth graders to walk in to a classroom with an extensive library. The new books are engaging and students were eager to read the new books. Additionally, they love the comfortable chairs and pillow. It is the small things that make

Independent reading appealing, which significantly impacts student achievement and engagement in literacy. We have been using the iPad at our vocabulary station. Students love it so much, that I will be posting a project for three more soon. Stay tuned!”

  • Soccer Team Needs

    Funded Mar 21, 2017

My students were SO excited when they saw their new hoodies! I didn't tell them that the project was funded until they arrived, so it was a surprise. Not only did they all start wearing them immediately, but I saw their immediate effect on their team spirit and confidence. When they stepped off of the bus wearing them for their first game on Tuesday, there was a notable bounce in their step. I could tell that they felt more like a "official" team. The girls won their best game next (7-0!), with several girls scoring their first goal ever.

Additionally, as the weather gets warmer, it is great to have team water bottles. We have already begun using the pinnies at practice, which makes grouping players for drills much easier. I'm sure the pump will come in handy soon as well!

Thank you so much for helping these wonderful kids feel like a part of a team!”

  • A Donation Today Keeps Learning Awake!

    Funded Aug 16, 2016

We are so excited to have our new laptop cases and chargers! Because of this project, each student is able to take Chromebook home this year. Many more affluent communities enjoy computers at home without giving it a second thought. With this project, my students can now enjoy the same luxury. They can use Google Docs and Google Classroom to complete assignments online. Computer literacy is an essential skill to be successful today. This project has helped students move towards achieving this because they can now use computers everyday both at home and at school.

    Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan

  • Bringing Technology to the Classroom

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

We use technology for every subject. For reading, we read articles online and prepare for online reading assessments. In social studies, we use the computer to watch the news everyday. We can now use interactive online tools to learn about Ancient Civilizations. Additionally, students will use the computers to research Ancient Civilizations.

Students are excited about these computers because it will completely change the way they do homework. Instead of writing in notebooks, they can post their responses online forums and respond to one another online. This is exciting because it mimics the methods of communication used in social media.

With the new PARCC assessments being online, there is a huge discrepancy between the students that are computer literate and those that are not. These computers will help narrow this gap, getting students who are not used to typing comfortable typing on a daily basis.”

  • Books, Books, Books!

    Funded Sep 4, 2015

My students were SO excited to open the boxes when our books came in! They immediately scavenged through them, looking for independent reading books. So far, the favorites for independent reading are the "Chicken Soup" books, Gracefully Grayson, and the "Career Ideas" series. Right now, my class is enjoying reading the class book, Wonder. I explained that the class sets of The Giver and Before We Were Free will be used for similar units. They were very excited!

The goal of this project was to boost students' love for reading, and it certainly has! I am especially excited to see so many students engaged in nonfiction texts.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan
