  • GSA Hoodies

    Funded Mar 17, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations. My GSA club was so excited when I shared that this project had been funded. They are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the hoodies. They are a great way that kids were able to express themselves and show their LBGTQ+ pride and identity without having to explicitly share it with their families if they are not ready to do so. Hopefully wearing them will also spread visibility of the club.

Thank you again for putting a little light into these kids' lives. I truly appreciate it!”

  • New Independent Reading Books for Diversity

    Funded Jul 14, 2020

It is great to have some new titles in my classroom library! It is important to stay up to date with young adult literature. For this project, I researched the newest books that celebrate cultural diversity and made sure to fill some representation gaps that I felt I had in my classroom library. For example, I didn't have many recent books that feature Asian or Muslim cultures. I am excited to have these books ready for my students to view when they return to school on November 5th.

    Thank you all for contributing.”

  • Updated Maps

    Funded Aug 3, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to this project! In my own growth as a history teacher, I have realized the importance of students studying and understanding geography in order to understand the historical context. These maps provide multiple perspectives of the world, including an "upsidedown" map and a Pacific centered map. Additionally, the project includes a detailed map of Africa. This is important to have because humans originated in Africa, and the majority of my curriculum either takes place in Africa or pertains to Africa.

Thank you again for your support.”

  • Replacement Books

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to this project. This is our first book of the school year, so it was important that I had physical copies ready to distribute to students this September. I try to include a variety of characters in my curriculum. This book includes an LGBTQ character and a character struggling with mental illness, both of which I felt were important to incorporate in class.

Additionally, this novel is written from multiple perspectives, which addressed one of the most critical Common Core State Standards for sixth grade.

Thank you again for your support.”

  • Books, Books, and More Books!

    Funded Apr 5, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to this project. We started reading this book together today. Although we are still learning digitally and reading together via Zoom, it was so nice to see kids with a book in their hands today, rather than just staring at a computer screen. I truly believe in the beauty of reading physical books. In a time where everything is online, this is extremely important.

Also, these book are theirs to keep, so students were excited when I told them that they can and should mark up the text with their thoughts and notes.

Thank you again for helping my students stay engaged and motivated to read and learn.”

  • Classroom Makeover

    Funded Jan 21, 2020

Thank you so much for your contribution to my project. My students were so excited and my classroom feels so much more comfortable already. They absolutely love the rug. It is fitting as I am a world history teacher.

They also love the couch. It makes them feel comfortable and mature, as they are too small to be sitting on the ground.

Finally, they are super excited about the trophy case. It is going to be downstairs outside of the auditorium so that younger kids can see all of the success of the debate and soccer teams. Hopefully, it will help them look forward to participating when they are in middle school. My kids love that their awards are showcased for all to see.”

  • Soccer Team Goals

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity! We had our jackets just in time for our final tournament today, and they were the perfect motivation to play like a team. Both boys and girls teams wore them proudly (especially because it was cold out!), to the envy of the other teams. They were very excited to wear them.

Additionally, it has been great for them to have an another pair of soccer socks. Lastly, we have been utilizing the electronic ball pump to keep out balls ready for practice in a much more efficient way.

Although not all of you asked for cards, I want to say how much I appreciate each of you donating!”

  • Everyday Supplies!

    Funded Apr 10, 2019

Thank you so much for your contribution! It is the little things that make a classroom function. At this point in the year, we were in desperate need of markers, paper, and post-it notes. We are about to start literature circles/book groups, and the supplies came just in time for me to create bins with colorful post-it's and pens that will be not only useful, but also very inviting to my students. We are so grateful for your support and contributions. When we do projects at the end of this unit, we will have fresh markets and paper!”

  • Winter Clothing

    Funded Dec 13, 2018

Thank you so much for getting this project funded so quickly. The materials arrived yesterday-just in time for the coldest day we've had all year! My students were so excited and immediately started spotting the fleeces, sweatshirts, and jackets. In addition to the whether being cold outside, our school heating in sporadic, so it is important that students have warm items to wear inside as well as our. Our school has a color dress code policy and many students can't afford to buy several sweatshirts of the school colors, so they are either cold or wearing the same thing every day. These items are high quality and the kids were very excited about them.

I can put the hats at dismissal, just in time for the cold walk

Home that most of my kids have.”

  • Classroom Essentials

    Funded Sep 8, 2018

Thank you so much for helping to start the school year off on the right foot! My students LOVE to go to the independent reading station, partly because they want to sit on the comfortable cushions. It was also great to start off the year with colored paper, poster board, and other supplies fully stocked. It makes my classroom feel complete and my students are excited to start their projects. Also, I like to give my students the choice to move around the room to work. The clipboards allow them to work from the rug, the windowsill, or anywhere else!”
