• Debate Hoodies

  My students were so excited to receive their hoodies today! I was hoping that they would come before the holiday break. They put them on right away and kept commenting on how soft they are.

  I have a tule that students must attend three tournaments to receive their hoodie, so seeing some kids receive theirs is already serving as motivation for some other kids to attends the remaining tournaments in order to receive theirs.

  I am excited for everyone to show up at the next tournament wearing their swag!”

• iPads for Group Projects

  I am so excited to have these new iPads! After COVID and school closures, students are sill using broken and damaged Chromebooks that have barely survived distance learning. It is very exciting for my students to have new and "fancy" technology. I still need to set them up, but I am excited to use them as a learning station and for projects. Yesterday, I introduced our movie trailer project and my students are very excited to begin filming and editing the movie trailers they will be creating after finishing their literature circle books.”

• Soccer Cleats

  Funded Oct 27, 2022

  My players were so excited to receive these cleats! They excitedly opened the boxes and tried them on. Everyone now has a pair of cleats! I even have a few extras for new players that may join or for kids in the spring that grow significantly. I will also be able to use them for cleat swaps as kids outgrow them.

  I am so grateful that this project got funded while the fall season is still underway. We now look like a more professional soccer team. The kids were excited to break them in at practice this week and are ready for their game next week.”

• Snacks for Middle School Clubs

  Thank you so much for supporting this project! We had GSA today and our kids were so excited about the snacks. In fact, we had other kids asking to join because of the snacks--whatever gets them in the door! Additionally, at debate practice, kids are hungry after a long day, so it is great to have a variety of snacks available for them to choose from before getting to work. I think we should have enough snacks to last us through the school year!

• Student Agendas

  Thank you so much for getting this project funded before the start of school! Students have already begun using their agendas. Middle school is a big shift for students in terms of switching classes and staying organized with assignments, so starting that habit right from the beginning of the year has been huge. Students like the feeling of writing things down and being able to check them off when they are complete. Additionally, parents are able to check students' agendas at home to make sure they are completing their work.”

• Student-Selected Independent Reading Books

  My students were so excited to receive these books today! Because they had selected the titles, they were immediately engaged. It was great to see them so excited for independent reading books.

  I do my best to keep up with new young adult literature, but with so many new titles coming out, it was helpful to have students select books in order to get a better sense of what is popular now. I also added a few extra titles to better diversify my genres and book subjects.

• New Tables

  My students were so excited when the tables arrived today that I stopped class early for them to help build them. It was a great way for them to work together collaboratively on a project while simultaneously helping create an environment more conducive to learning. They are fed up with having to sit on the floor and move chairs around for group work! I am so glad to have my room back in share for collaborative learning thanks to these tables.

• Debate Hoodies

  Thank you so much for your donation! The debaters love their hoodies and wear them practically every day. They designed them themselves, which was a fun break from the rigor of debate. Additionally, there has been more interest in the debate team now that other students see them wearing their hoodies around.

  We have two tournaments left in the debate season and the debaters are eager to wear them together. Additionally, I have some new debaters that are working hard to "earn" their hoodies by attending tournaments.”

• Classroom Library Revamp

  Thank you so much for getting this project funded so quickly! I believe that many kids lost access to quality independent reading books during the pandemic, so it is great to have so many new and diverse titles.

  I am on maternity leave until November, so I am excited to unveil these books in my library when I return to the classroom. I know the kids will be so excited to review the variety of text titles, levels, and genres.

• GSA Hoodies- x2!

  Funded May 4, 2021

  Thank you so much for your generous donation. After we had gotten the first round of hoodies funded, they were a hot commodity! Having gear truly builds culture. It was nice for students in GSA and allies to proudly sport their hoodies. However, as I mentioned in the project, our club grew when we returned to in-person learning. New members wanted hoodies too.

  That is where this project came in handy. The kids were so excited to hear that more hoodies are on the way. They designed them, so that is extra exciting. After a year of social isolation, it is nice for them to belong to something.”
