Stem Projects for Student Exploration
Funded Aug 26, 2022This is one of the most amazing gifts we could have ever received! I have taken a few STEM in the Classroom professional development classes and fell in love with this concept. Adding STEM activities to our classroom has given the students the opportunities to expand their imagination as well as their thinking skills. It has been a fantastic opportunity to see the students create different projects with all of the different tools we now have. They work and play together to create amazing things. I love seeing them and their wonderful projects.
My students were so excited to see the new STEM items. I put them in their own containers and set up a little STEM corner. The students could not wait to get their work done so they could begin experimenting with all the cool new things.
The students continue to work hard and finish their work to be able to "play" with all of the fun items we now have in the classroom.”

Saving Paper by Using Dry Erase Boards and Markers
Funded Jul 3, 2022Having new whiteboards and dry erase markers have been such a blessing in our classroom. The previous boards and pens no longer worked well and were actually falling apart. It was difficult to read the student's answers when we were working with these items.
The students were very excited to see the new boards and all of the wonderful assortment of markers. They couldn't wait to get started on some math so they could break them in.
We use these almost daily in our classroom. They are especially important during the first few days when learning a new math concept. I can show the students a problem and they can work on it on their new whiteboards. I can then go around and let each student know if they got it right or still need to work on it. It is so helpful to both students and myself.”

Building Good Readers One Good Book at a Time
Funded Mar 9, 2022The gift of books to our classroom has been amazing. Just in this short time we have been able to touch the lives or two different sets of fifth graders. My first group loved every minute of perusing through the new books as they came in last year.
My new group of fifth graders has just begun discovering the wonders of our classroom treasure trove of a library.
Last year we were able to finish out our school year by everyone having their own copy of The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. This was part of our classroom novel study. We had a ragtag collection but not even close enough to give each student a book. Now we have a beautiful classroom set that we will use year after year.
Having enough books for each student helped them feel more connected to the book and the characters. This novel study jump started many of my students on to other Rick Riordan books and other books within the same genre. It was amazing to see the students just take off reading.”
