My students are mostly 10th graders. The school is in a low income, mostly African American neighborhood in a city. Despite issues with the neighborhood (that come with poverty), the kids come in ready to learn and want to do well. They work very hard as a community and always help each other out! They really care about each other, and it always shows in my classroom. I am able to stand back often and let them all teach either- a beautiful teaching moment!
