I have a caseload of students with IEPs that I am able to meet three days a week. During these classes, we work on individual IEP goals, as well as grade-level standards. Reading fluently, decoding multi-syllable words, and comprehending texts at their reading level (and beyond) are the basis of these literacy goals. Having an accessible and appropriate classroom library will really benefit my students. In addition, the students in my Advisory period will be utilizing these books. During Advisory, students are given uninterrupted time to read a text of their choice and interest. Currently, many of my students are not able to find books at their level (many of which are beginning readers) and have to resort to reading my early reader books.... which they are getting bored of! They will love the new and varied choices of the books that I have chosen for them. I expect to see them improve their confidence, fluency, and love of reading through this project.
