Bringing Melody and Rhythm to the Littles
Funded Mar 1, 2022I am overwhelmed by your generosity! Thank you so much for making this project happen for my students. Their little hands will love working with the bells. My students will be so excited to hear the sounds! The colors relate to our piano key labels --- let the music composition begin!”

Funded Jan 30, 2022I'm so excited to get started creating music with my Littles!
Thank you for giving to our project. Your generosity is making it possible for my non-readers to create an original composition using knowledge they already have. Crosscurricular activities are the best way to show children that all knowledge is connected.
Thank you again for donating to our project.”

It's All About That Bass
Funded Sep 29, 2021I am beyond thrilled that this project was funded. My students have benefitted so much from having updated and ergonomically fitted Bass Drum harnesses. The new mallets with dense heads and smooth shanks have brought the bass to life for my small band.
The new harnesses have awakened the need for my students to take better care of their equipment. They developed a storage system which keeps the harnesses in a safe location.
My students also appreciate the sound that now comes from their drums when they play. The new mallets are easier to handle and make our bass drums sing.
We have yet to receive the new hoops for the 24" drum, but I am sure they will be coming as they get back in stock.
Thank you so much for making playing a bass drum during the fall a more comfortable and musical season.”

Funded Sep 15, 2017Thank you so much for believing in the power of music! My students and I have so enjoyed preparing for concert the music that was part of our project. Secret Agent Sugar Plum was a 2 page part for some people and it scared them to start with; however, after they started playing it the piece became their favorite one on the program.
We had an extended football season this year - our team made the quarter finals! Having the music music for the Christmas concert early made it easier for us to budget our time and make sure it was prepared for performance. Balancing multiple repertoires is not easy, but the quality of the music made the kids want to practice!
The junior high players have already listened to the two pieces for Spring - including Mars! I have yet to introduce the senior high to them - but from the reaction that I received in junior high I do think they will be a hit!
Thank you again for supporting the band program in Hazen, AR.”

Funded Nov 29, 2016I am so excited to tell you about the changes that are happening in our band classes!! Your generous contributions to our project have made an impact already - and we have only had the tuners a few weeks :)
The students have become more interested in their own tonality and have also begun to hear the differences in the tuning pitch in class. It helps to be able to see the gauge on the tuner move from left to right indicating whether the pitch being played is flat (too low) or sharp (too high). This new awareness is already being heard in the way the class performs together. There is more listening happening in class than ever before.
I am overjoyed with the tuner/metronome combinations and their many uses in class, although I think the students are having more fun with the protective bubble wrap in the box. Our cell phone dock has become a metronome/tuner dock. The students like being able to sign out a tuner for their use. The Junior High Band is especially excited about being able to play a note perfectly in tune. It has become a contest in class and winning is exciting!
Again, thank you for helping us reach our goal and improve our musical ears!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Creasey
Marching Band is Awesome!
Funded Mar 9, 2016Thank you so much for supporting our program! The students are thrilled with the new materials. Next year will be the first year in many that our marching band will have tunable bass drums on the field! Your contributions are making this happen for us and our community!
The impact your donations have made on my students is incredible. Knowing that people from our community and from outside our state have contributed to improving our band has helped to solidify in their minds that music truly is universal. People caring about the Fine Arts helps my students to understand the importance of what we practice every day in class.
The materials arrived on two separate days. Students were waiting anxiously for each shipment and excited to see the boxes come in. It has been a challenge to keep the materials in their boxes - the students want so badly to hold onto the new equipment.
Our next steps in our "Marching Band is Awesome!" project is to remove all of the hardware from the drums and paint the shells and rims to match the new equipment purchased in the Fall. Once the painting is finished we will begin reassembling the drums with the new heads. The batter head has been put on the new snare and sounds amazing!
Currently in our classroom we are working toward our Spring Concert and Recruitment event that happens next week. The more students we can enroll in the program the more we can accomplish in Band both on the field and stage. The Band is performing "I Am the Doctor" - the theme for the 11th Doctor from Dr. Who. It is an engaging and dynamic piece that we hope will inspire 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to join with us in music making.
Again, your contributions have made a difference for my program and my students. Thank you for your support.”

Ms. Creasey
