I have 21 students in a general education setting. I have 4 resource room students. These children have specific learning disabilities and are eager to try new things, and while they are not afraid of failure, they revel in every success no matter how small. Because every success is hard fought, all children deserve every support and advantage available. All of my students want to stand up to do their work, but I have no means for them all to do it in an engaging and effective way. Students are standing hunched over at traditional desks and this uncomfortable posture makes it difficult for them to focus. Sitting in one place, looking at the teacher can become very tiring. I have already incorporated exercise balls into our classroom and movement throughout the day. I can see the difference and am eager to meet more needs with the standing desks.
