All of the books requested will be used to create a classroom library for students. Research has shown that in order for children to learn to read and to read well they must have access to many different texts. Many of the students don't have access to books at home. These books will not only be used in the classroom for independent reading and Reader's Workshop, but will also be taken home to be read. This will help to ensure that our students become successful readers, and help them to make a smooth transition to being in an all English classroom for the first time. These books already have a home in our classroom and that space is just waiting to be filled.
