21st century student collaboration involves 21st century furniture. In order for this classroom communication to happen, the right kind of furniture is in order. Through this, students are able to bring an idea to their group like a department meeting, where they might collaborate as a group to fine tune it. Or one might talk with a partner and interview him/her in a certain area. Common core in the classroom involves a real-world collaboration simulation that means we go to the people we know are the right fit for a particular issue we are facing. And sometimes we work alone. And then we find someone or some people who can help us past the next phase of the project. And we aren't bound by artificial parameters like space or time or numbers of people. And we can work alone when it works for us to work alone. If students’ chair don’t have wheels, there will be less collaboration. It is not easy for students to move around from their table group to work with other students. My students need comfortable task chairs.
