This year in my classroom, my students have been working hard to build a love of reading. We have implemented Reader's Workshop, we have worked hard to build our reading stamina and are currently independently reading for upwards of 45 minutes a day! We have participated in a field trip to our community library where the students learned how to find books, check out books, use the technology that is available at the library, and enjoy the fun events that our local library has planned for them. My students and their families came to a family library night at which they were able to participate in a library scavenger hunt, crafts, and reader's theater presentations. In order to foster a love of reading at home my students need to keep books organized and ready to go with them at the end of the day. The organizing cart with bins that I am requesting will help me to organize all of the materials that are necessary to keep reading. Within the bins will be the student's book bags, which are available to take home each night and have at least 5-6 books in them. They also keep all of their materials for Reader's Workshop in these bins, such as a binder, reading journal, sticky notes, pencils, and important papers. Please help my students continue reading and having the ability to take home books in order to increase their reading skills. Your donations will help to build a new generation of readers. Thank you for your anticipated help!
