Do you see the picture of me using a small slate board to give students examples on how to solve an chemical equation? Having a portable dry erase board will solve this problem. My classroom is currently missing a dry erase board. Without the board, deaf students are missing out important information such as objectives of lessons, chemical formulas, and examples of laboratory procedures. I am currently using an small interactive whiteboard where I instruct using powerpoint presentations. The objectives, lessons, and assignments are stated but they are ephemeral. As part of best teaching practice, the objectives should be written and they should stay on a white board throughout the class period. With a portable dry erase board, I can easily state the objectives, write chemical formulas and equations, and give examples of laboratory procedures. After every introduction of each lessons, I will be able to move the board across the room to the laboratory area. I can continue the lesson by writing the laboratory procedures for students to follow. Also I can help deaf students write lab procedures by modeling lab report writing. With a portable white board, it would become readily efficient where students will become more focused and engaged in both classroom and laboratory settings.
