Thank you so much for donating so many awesome things to our classroom. It has allowed my students to be able to try new things, learn through play, and get creative with STEAM based activities. Some of things that were donated are favorites in our room.
The headphones allow my students to have quiet independent work time on the IPADS to complete their reading and math online component without the disruption of sounds coming from the others. They think they are the perfect size and comfortable on their ears. The stem activities are a big hit in our morning tubs, I noticed so many creative creations and conversations happening! Our classroom library has a cozy feel to it now with the leaf shaped pillows, they are great for moving to specials spots in the room to enjoy a cozy book. Finally, the most favorite thing is the SPOT books. They ask me to read them almost daily and have really helped with our social and emotionally learning in the classroom. This classroom project was brought to life by Alaska Department of Education & Early Development.

Using flexible seating options for my students will allow them to learn in a way that works best for their body and mind. When students have choices in their learning environment, they start to take more ownership in their learning which leads to higher success rates. Little bodies aren't meant to sit still, moving while learning helps students succeed. I plan on having many different seating areas for the students. The wobble chairs will help my students who enjoy sitting while working but have a hard time sitting still. Being able to move around while working will help them concentrate on the task at hand. The stability cushions will be used at a table that is set all the way to the ground. These cushions will act as a chair. The soft seats be used anywhere in the room where the student chooses to work. Having lap trays and clipboards allows the students to sit anywhere in the room to work. This helps them stay focused and choose to move away from students who are distracting them. Integrating the 2 iPads into the classroom will allow me to differentiate my students' learning in a fun and engaging way! I plan to use mine as a tool to read to students and engage them in hands-on reading, writing and math activities. It is also a great way to track my students' progress and share that progress with parents using online portfolios.
