Kindergarten Techie Tools
Funded May 28, 2020Thanks for giving me the tools to assist my "kinders". Having the ability to show students materials that I already had at hand helped me to continue teaching in a way that was familiar.
The document camera allowed me to use some "tried & true" worksheets to cement some much needed academic skills in literacy and math. I also used the document camera to show off the science experiments that I conducted. You should have seen our volcano erupt. I even placed a butterfly under the camera. The kids thought it was so cool to see the butterfly's wings fluttering.
The Live Scribe pen was the most exciting new tool for the students. I was able to write in real time. I didn't have to type all of the time. I also didn't have to use the tract pad (which makes writing tricky). The students really benefited from seeing me write instead of type. All of the "techie tools" that I received helped my students and I continue to learn in our virtual reality. Thanks again.”

Funded May 5, 2020All of the science goodies that we received added a huge "oomph" to our virtual lessons. Each week, I introduced a new science project to my kindergarteners.
The student anticipation level was building as we waited for the caterpillars to hatch into butterflies. The eventual butterfly release was sad (because I couldn't keep them) but exhilarating (because they got to spread their wings).
The slime experiment was cool because one lucky student got to decide the color and the material that was going to be added to the slime.
The volcano experiment was super nice because the chemical reaction was fast and easy to see.
The bonsai trees are still doing their thing. I guess I'll see some growth fairly soon.
Thanks for making our distance learning very enjoyable - because science ROCKS!!!”

Funded Mar 3, 2020The books that we received are absolutely fabulous. As soon as the box arrived, the kids were elated to know that they were going to get a new selection of books to add to our library.
The Fly Guy series is a humungous success. These hardback books not only have enticingly cute characters but the story lines are captivating and relate-able to the kinders.
The other book series collections are a must read during our independent reading time.
Once someone shares their book, it becomes a must have item for almost everyone.
Thanks a bunch.”

Funded Nov 22, 2019We can all say 1, 2, 3, blast off because of our 3 part number counting rocket ships. This is a terrific game because it allows for differentiated student activities. The students that need help with the numbers 1 to 10 can play in one area and the students that need help with the numbers 11 to 20 can master their counting and number recognition skills with their part of the game in a different area. This game is a win/win addition to our classroom.
The Knock Down Number game is like a carnival game. It is something that we must do every Friday. We use the game in conjunction with the SMARTBOARD. The student who is selected as the scribe, writes down how many times a certain number gets knocked down. The winning number is celebrated with all students jumping that many times and yelling hip hip hooray the number -7- is the winner today.
All of the new math games have encouraged a new fondness for our math station time slot. WOW!”

The Giggling Gardeners
Funded Dec 23, 2019Oh my goodness! Our AeroGarden is a spectacular sight to behold. The lettuce is lettuce-ing, the tomatoes are tomato-ing and the thyme is thyme is thyme-ing up a storm. We had our first taste of red tipped lettuce 2 weeks ago. The red tipped lettuce got a resounding thumbs up from everyone. The cherry tomatoes have not shown their little faces yet but we are hopeful that they will be joining their little buddies in our stomachs in the near future.
The AeroGarden is an excellent addition to any kindergarten classroom. The students eagerly volunteered to be a "Gardening Buddy." The students rotated adding water and plant food to our hydroponic garden. The lettuce is growing back for the third time. I mean how awesome is that?
I would definitely encourage teachers to include the AeroGarden in their science stations. It is one thing to read about something but it is another thing to become an active participant in something that is a wonder to behold.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018We are eternally grateful for all of the incredible sight word games. Each student is able to select the type of game that will enhance their sight word knowledge.
The sight word games/toys are being used on a daily basis, during our Literacy station block. I can honestly say that these games were a huge part of our literacy success this year. I had a greater number of students exceeding their end of the year reading goal, than ever before.
Seeing their faces light up when each new learning game was unpacked, was like watching the discovery of X-mas toys under the Christmas tree. It is always awesome to hear students begging to play with games/toys that are educational.”

Funded Dec 13, 2017I'm a firm believer of working smarter and not harder. I've used the laminating pouches to make games/activities that I will use yearly. Before the pouches arrived, I'd use something one to three times before it got "lovingly destroyed"- through everyday usage. The copy paper is a godsend. One pack of paper a month goes really fast, after you've made daily worksheets for all subjects and homework packets. The extra paper from you allowed me to do extra things that I wouldn't have been able to do before the donation.
Thanks again for giving my students reusable/sturdy photocopied and laminated activities.”
