  • Kindergarten Mixed Media Book Project

    Funded Feb 23, 2022

Our Kindergarten Mixed Media Book Project turned out great. We used our computers, camera, my cell phone and a mixture of art supplies to make our book. I'd really like to get the book published because it's truely a cute kindergarten story.

We wrote our story, took pictures, edited our story, chose interesting background colors, used images and fonts from our laptops and then arranged and bound the pages together. It was so much fun.

The most exhilarating part of the book making process was when the students took the pictures for the book. Everyone wanted to be the classroom photographer and contribute to the end product - our book.

    Thanks again.”

  • Rockin' it like Rembrandt!

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

Thank you so very much for making our artistic dreams come true. All the supplies that we received were absolutely put to good use and greatly appreciated.

When I opened the boxes of art supplies, my kinders looked as if they were staring at Christmas presents on Christmas day. Everyone was so excited to see what they might be using during our FUN Friday positive behavior sessions and our Art Ninja Station.

Out of all of the products purchased, the Squishmallow paintable characters were the most sought after reward. As they were slowly disappearing, my kinders were trying harder and harder to get one.

Thanks again for giving my kinders an opportunity to have more than just old action figures and regular color pencils to use as a positive behavior reward.”

  • The Perfect Kindergarten Plan

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

I can't say thank you enough for allowing my kindergarten students to have the ability to get organized. The organizers that I ordered were just perfect. Each student had a place for important information that needed to be reviewed by parents/guardians. The organizers also have a place for monthly calendars, homework, teacher notes, specialist teacher classwork, and general FYI paperwork.

The best thing about the organizer is that it is a wonderful tool that helps students get in the habit of organizing their belongings. As an added bonus, it is plastic and waterproof (no more soggy homework assignments).

Thanks for helping my students learn that for everything there is a place.”

  • A Beautiful Book Bonanza!

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Our community meetings got a whole lot better with the marvelous books that we received from your generous donations. Two books that really stood out were Mary had a little glam and Crabby Pants. After introducing new vocabulary words and stating our objective: I can ask and answer questions about the setting, key details, and main idea, we were able to dive right into the beautifully illustrated books and get prepared to become captivated by the compelling stories.

It was so funny to hear some of the comparisons that the students made to the Crabby pants story. After our Turn & Talk session, one student said that she was a "crabby pants" when she couldn't have hot sauce on her macaroni and cheese. Another student said that he didn't wear "crabby pants" only long ones. Suffice it to say, everyone has had a crabby pants episode at one time or another. The student drawings and sentences with invented spelling were awesome.

    Thanks again.”

  • ABC's & 123's Please!

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The Think2Master kits are a comprehensive powerhouse that makes learning in our kindergarten classroom a breeze. I just love these inter-disciplinary kits. My "kinders" love them too.

Although I use the kits in class, I was able to give each student/parent their very own kit during our parent teacher conferences. I explained how they could be used to extend their child's learning beyond their typical homework/study time.

In class, the kits are used after specific letters and numbers are introduced. The laminated cards allow the struggling students the opportunity to practice specific skills during small group time. Since the kits come with a dry erase marker, the cards can be used over and over again. It's just a win win situation.

We will continue to use the kits when additional sight words and word families are introduced.”

  • Are You A "Money Inferno"?

    Funded Apr 5, 2021

Thank you for your generosity. During quarter 2, we delved into Needs and Wants from our district's social studies curriculum. Needless to say, the Lakeshore cash register, faux money and food products are a huge hit in our classroom. After we learned about the value of US bills and coins, next we started purchasing produce, bread and meats at an alarming rate. Too bad the real stuff can't mimic our classroom prices.

A turn taking system had to be set up for our financial literacy center. Students were not happy if they didn't get to the cash register first. The center is a much-coveted spot. We use the center for math, social studies and now for literacy. The kids get a kick out of selecting a food; paying for it; and then writing a couple of simple sentences about it.

In mid-January, we will be turning the financial literacy center into a toy shop. Students will be able to keep the items that they purchased.”

  • ZOOMing Toward First Grade!

    Funded Mar 17, 2021

Your generosity came at the perfect time. I was able to give each student a Lakeshore At- Home Learning kit. The kits had a dual function. Function one: each student could choose 2 items from the bag to use at home with our online classwork and homework, this year. Function two: the rest of the items had to be saved and used for their brand new first grade classes next year. There were so many cool things inside the kit. I'm sure that it was difficult to select only 2 things. We primarily used the notebook for writing and math problems.

When I pulled out the bags/kits the students faces lit up like a June bug under the pale moonlight. Everyone wanted online assurances that they would be able to get one (which they did).

The parents were ecstatic that their child could get such a terrific/generous item from donors like you.”

  • Kindergarten Basics

    Funded Feb 5, 2021

My students were so surprised to see some of the coolest learning toys/educational games that they would actually be able to keep. One student said that it wasn't her birthday yet but could she still keep the "toy" anyway. Of course, I said yes. It's great when a child gets something and thinks that it's a toy and not something that is making them smarter and smarter by the minute. Another student said that she was going to teach her baby sister how to learn all of her letters. These "toys " can actually be the cause of a legacy of learning.

Although the toys/learning games were different, they could still be used in a similar fashion. I had students locate a specific letter, tell me its name, make its sound(s), come up with a word that has the same beginning letter and then use that word in a sentence. Since most of the letters were colorful, it was easy for me to help my kindergarteners find them, even if I had to do so thru our Zoom screen. Thanks again.”

  • You Mean Money Doesn't Grow on Trees!

    Funded Mar 20, 2020

As my students listen to these awesome books, it is both joyful and sad at the same time. It is joyful because we have fantastic books that have the potential to shape the course of my "kindergarteners" financial lives. It is sad because the COVID virus is keeping the books out of our lending library aka their five and six year old hands.

So far they've listened to 7 of the books. The story that struck a cord with the students is the book called, Do We Need it or Do We Want It? The book catapulted us into a discussion about all of the things that we could actually do without. We played a Needs and Wants sorting game and had a little discussion about delayed gratification. The item that they were most proud of was the drum/banks that they made out of empty oatmeal and grits containers. Each in-person student was able to make money with their face on it - how cool. Thanks again for your generosity.”

Having copy paper, computer ink and laminating sheets would enable me to make over 40 different educational games. Colorful bubble gum sight words games, concepts of print labeling games, fishing for numbers, labeling parts of a plant and countless others are awaiting the nibble fingers of my kindergartners. Being able to have 10 different games for each subject area (literacy, math, science & social studies) would increase the odds of educational triumphs in our classroom. Every child deserves to have as many learning opportunities as possible. I will be able to provide differentiated games for the different levels of learning of my KINDER GAMERS.
