The document camera will be used in all subjects. Each day, it will be used to go over morning work, model new math concepts, display the read aloud for the day, model how to annotate text, assist in taking notes in science, share writing, and provide an easy way to model expectations for graded work by displaying a teacher copy for everyone to see. I have found that my students perform much better when given clear visuals. Students will be able to show and explain their work, without wasting precious class time by having them copy their work onto a board. The document camera will allow students to show their paper to the whole class. My students love sharing their work with the class. It provides a motivation for students to work hard, as it allows them the chance to play teacher and use technology. It can also assist in clearing up common misconceptions students have. I encourage risk taking in my classroom and would love to allow students the chance to look at each other's work and critique it, as it is a big push in common core. Many PARCC questions ask for students to find mistakes in a student's work, therefore, this will be a useful tool for preparing my students for the end of year assessments.
