Bringing Technology Into Math

Funded Mar 2, 2016

Dear Donors,

I would like to take this time to send my sincere thanks for your generous donation to my Kindle project for my fifth grade classroom. When I created the project, I had no idea of how quickly it would have been funded!

Since receiving the Kindles, the students in my five math classes have had the opportunity to enjoy them in a variety of ways. They have been used for reinforcement when students are struggling on concepts, I am able to quickly pull up a tutorial video on the Kahn Academy website to serve as a quick reminder on different concepts for the student. They have also served as a tool for added reinforcement, giving the students an opportunity to work at their own pace. The students find the math to be "fun" when electronics are involved. It is great to see the kids having fun while they are still doing math! The Kindles have had the largest impact during my learning center stations. During learning stations, the students have the opportunity to use the kindles to access various math apps to reinforce fifth grade concepts. This is the center they look the most forward to, eagerly staring down the students who visit the center before them!

It is still the early stages of using the Kindles in my math class. As I continue to use them, they are going to have a larger impact. I have begun to upload different Power Point presentations which I use in my class to the Kindles. This will serve as a reminder but also will greatly benefit students when the return from an absence. I am excited to continue to use these in my class and hope to have the opportunity to add more to my classroom supply as well.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Connolly
