Oregon Trail Field Trip
Funded Jan 25, 2018This trip was amazing. My students had a wonderful time during their experience. With a series of field studies, they were able to experience an in-depth learning that helped them process the work that we have been working on in class. They learned about the Oregon Trail experience, how many people went through the experience, Oregon's statehood and things that happened along the way all through fun games, activities and through a camping experience. Thank you for all you have done for my students. They will remember this for a lifetime!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Daley

Funded Mar 18, 2016Dear Donors,
All of our fourth grade students went on the field trip to the High Desert Museum. It was so amazing and all of the learners were able to talk about their new found information which changed/shaped their new outlook on the Oregon Trail. They were able to experience for themselves the rich history behind the Oregon Trail. While viewing the exhibits, learning about animals that inhabit the desert and having the chance to experience what early 20th century life was like for some settlers, students were constantly making connections to information they once visited in the classroom. When students were exploring the exhibits, one of the teachers even overheard a student say, "this is the best field trip ever!".
Once we were back in the classroom, students talked about all of the interesting things they discovered during the field trip. Some of them wanted to redo projects they had done or change some of their finished products up to show their new understanding of the Oregon Trail. I loved how enthused they were about making sure their new learning reflected in their past projects.
Now when we talk about the Oregon Trail in the classroom, students reference the trip and make connections, which is very important for anyone to do in order to reach a higher level of understanding. If it wasn't for this trip, those connections would have been very difficult for them to make, even if they were to try. On behalf of Rosa Parks Elementary we thank you dearly for this experience.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Daley
