I teach in an amazing school full of amazing staff and students. Unfortunately with budget cuts, classroom furniture is not in the budget. My classroom is new this year as I am at a new school. I have spent a lot of my own money buying shelves and fabric and decorations to help make the room look inviting to students. We have a tile floor and currently I only have a small carpet that does not fit all of my students. We need a place for students to each have enough room to be comfortable. We spend a lot of time sitting on the carpet. We have a morning meeting, a read aloud, shared reading in which students do the reading, math lesson, as well as brain breaks on our carpet. I want to provide my wonderful students with a comfortable place to learn.
