These donations will improve my students ability to work independently. It will also help in developing a sensory station for break time, which is essential in dealing with maladaptive behaviors and contributing to a sensory diet. As most know, students with autism need constant sensory input to stay on task. They also require positive reinforcement to work independently. The bright colors on the already produced folders will allow my students to practice sitting for longer periods of time to complete tasks without much prompting. Some of the folders are named: Reading Comprehension Games Library - Gr. 1-3, Math Instant Learning Centers - Gr. 2-3, and Reading & Writing Skills Folder Game Libraries Gr. 4-5 - Complete Set, just to name a few. The folders will hold their attention and k The fidget toys will be placed in the carefully constructed break area where a huge carpet is found and other sensory items such as puzzles, gac and lava lamps. The inflatable lounger will not only be used during breaks but as a calming station for when students engage in meltdowns. This lounger will be able to work miracles with my students and independently managing their behaviors. The Velcro and laminating sheets will be used daily in making new icons and picture symbols to coincide with the lessons and to help with communication for my nonverbal students. All of the comprehension kits, such as the finding evidence comprehension kit, word work activity stations and the instant math kits will assist in independent work stations. These kits also have a functional relation to the Edmark Reading Program, Failure Free Reading Program and The Attainment Math Curriculum used. The donations will allow for a variety of materials and for us to be able to have "go to" activities instead of from scratch activities.
