In prior years, I have had students put notebooks in a wooden counter that split into four equal units in front of my class. Each unit represented the class where that group placed their notebooks. The problem I have run into is middle schoolers by January misplace their notebooks, put in the wrong unit, or flat out leave them on their table. My new approach will make it easier for students to place their notebooks. Now it will be at their table. My class has 7 lab tables. At each table can be anywhere from 4-6 students. Each 6 level cart will have a color identifier for each class. The table will put their notebooks at the appropriate color. This will make it make it more convenient for students and easier for them to identify their notebook. It will also cut the time it takes for students to find their notebook. The cylinders will be used for labs dealing with small liquid measurements. Lab coat shows an importance by me that safety is important. It's extremely important for Middle School students to practice organization. My process will help simplify it for them.
