Light Up Learning With Hot Dots
Funded Jan 14, 2019Thank you very much for your generous donations that funded my project. My students were so excited to open and begin using our new materials! The Hot Dot pens, cards and sets are very engaging and enjoyable! Since there are different types of pens, my students take turns choosing the one that want to work with.
Hot Dots make the repeated practice my students need much more engaging. They eagerly work through a pile of addition or subtraction facts because they want to see the pen light up and hear the praises it sings to them with a correct answer! Practicing phonics skills and reading is enticing because it's interactive!
I sincerely appreciate your kindness that will enable my students to have access to great learning materials. I love being able to add excitement to learning and donors like you help make it possible. Without your support, the variety I am able to access would be much more limited. Boogieing Toward Success!
Funded Aug 25, 2016From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! Your generosity allowed my students to have access to "Boogie Boards" in my classroom. They were so excited when the box came! We opened it immediately and they began writing and drawing. They even wrote their thank you notes directly on the boards! Writing immediately had a new appeal to my students!
Boogie boards are very similar to the old cardboard tablets that were popular when I was a child. You would write on it with a plastic "pencil" and then lift the plastic overlay to erase your message. These boards are the modern version of that with a technological appeal. They look like a tablet but work like a note pad. My students love to use them for so many different activities. We practice spelling words, write answers to questions that I call out, answer math problems and write sentences and paragraphs on them! The versatility makes these boards appealing to students at all levels. Writing doesn't feel so difficult when you know you can push a button and make it all go away so you can try again!
My students are active kids that require a variety of teaching methods to motivate them to learn at their full potential. They learn best when the activities presented are highly-engaging and allow them to work on meaningful tasks. The Reusable Dry-Erase Pockets and the Boogie Boards allow my students to blend reading and writing with other subjects in ways that increase their motivation and achievement in all areas. We love these materials and use them daily!

Funded Feb 14, 2016I am so thankful for all of the wonderful materials my students are enjoying because of your generous donations. They have their choice of Yoga Ball Chairs or Wobble Cushions for more comfortable seating so that they can move their bodies while completing their assignments. They are willing to share and trade so that each child has a chance to experience the different seating options!
My students love the options they have when they walk into my classroom. They know they can choose a seating option that matches their comfort level and learning style. My students know they can use the stress balls and fidgets to help engage their bodies and minds while working on their assignments.
My students often ask to borrow stress balls or putty so that they can use it in other classrooms as well. We have used the exercise bands on several chairs to give the kids a place to move their feet without distracting their classmates. My students realize that these tools help them to concentrate and focus more fully on their work. They are learning to self-advocate and communicate their needs and preferences to others! It makes me so proud.
