  • A Laptop a Day Keeps the Literacy Away!

    Funded Nov 26, 2024

Thank you so much for your wonderful donation. The laptop will help students struggling with writing. The letter school app will help students learn to write while having fun playing with the entertaining animations. Laptops in classrooms has a positive effect on the development of children's literacy and numeracy skills. Moreover, it shows that the use of these devices enhanced children's communication skills! Kids who use apps to study see it as a play and are more enthusiastic to learn. Not to mention a positive impact on teacher's motivation! The laptop will be place in one of my literacy centers where students will rotate daily to gain access. Thank you again for your donation! You're making a difference!!”

  • An iPad Makes for More Active Learning!

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your wonderful donation. The iPad will help students struggling with writing. The letter school app will help students learn to write while having fun playing with the entertaining animations. iPads in classrooms has a positive effect on the development of children's literacy and numeracy skills. Moreover, it shows that the use of these devices enhanced children's communication skills! Kids who use apps to study see it as a play and are more enthusiastic to learn. Not to mention a positive impact on teacher's motivation! For students who lack motor skills, manipulating between a keyboard, mouse, and screen can be very difficult and overwhelming. But the touch screen and all-in-one components of an iPad make it easier for special needs kids to not only use but master the process. the iPad will be place in one of my literacy centers where students will rotate daily to gain access. Thank you again for your donation! You're making a difference!!”

  • Books Are Like A Best Friend

    Funded Feb 15, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity! With your donations my students have been able to hold and read the books I use when teaching different reading strategies. Before, many of the books I needed were either not available, or there was only one copy in our library. Now, we have these books available in our classroom all the time! After we read each book as a class the students can hardly wait to put them in their book baskets for independent reading! You have truly made a difference in the education of these children."”

  • Read All About It!

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you so much for your wonderful donations to my students and classroom! Your generosity is greatly appreciated. This ink will greatly impact my students and their printing needs. Since I received a classroom cartridges from DonorsChoose, I can easily print out documents for free. It is so convenient rather than go to the library and pay to print their documents. Your generosity means a lot. My students appreciate seeing their work printed out also.

Your donations have contributed to making my student's lives easier. Thank you!”

  • Mic Check One!

    Funded Oct 29, 2023

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful donation to my classroom. My students have enjoyed the headphones as much as I have. They love going to the reading center because there is a book of interest for each child. The students have enjoyed exploring the different characters and settings. My sweet first grade students have even took their learning to the next level by sorting our books into fiction and nonfiction. Learning has come to life for my students because of generous people like you."”

  • Crayons, Pencil boxes and Water in Need of Retirement!

    Funded Feb 1, 2023

Thank you so much for providing us with the resources to allow us to feel like kings and queens as we re-entered the classroom. This year was so difficult in so many ways, so having a way to make learning special again and help us remember all the magic involved with childhood was truly a gift. We were also able to extend our learning in engaging ways and explore new topics more thoroughly. Having the pencil boxes and water has been a fun way to support students as they shared their creative voices. This was such a tremendous gift to our community. Your generosity made this a time filled with laughter, learning, and the rebuilding of confidence. Thank you for adding fun back into our school year. We appreciate your thoughtfulness.”

I am a teacher who works in the inner city. Unfortunately many of the students have a lot of emotional problems. They come from dysfunctional families and it's not easy for them to come to school -- their focus is someplace else. Sometimes they have behavioral issues as a result of their emotional problems, and my biggest challenge is to find the key to reach that child who is very disruptive or very angry. Another challenge I face is that a lot of the children are not as prepared for school as they need to be. They come without a lot of literacy experience. They come into the classroom holding books upside down, or not knowing where the books start. They haven't had a lot of language; they haven't had the experience of being read to. So my job of getting them to read is a little bit harder.
